The Darkness Between Days: A Dystopian Future
What happens when the world we know becomes a distant memory?
Set in the year 2559, The Darkness Between Days is a dystopian science-fiction crime thriller set in a future shaped by environmental collapse, technological advancement, and a society that has evolved into something far removed from our own.
Global warming, deforestation, and overpopulation have taken their toll. Earth is dying, and humanity is struggling to survive. Even the off-world colonies on Mars and the Moon, once symbols of hope, offer no easy escape.
In this fractured future, time itself has become part of the machinery of society. Humanity lives within a system of seven-day zones, with coldsleep technology and a world governed by rules that few would recognise today.
At the heart of the story is Detective Jack Varden, a man investigating a world where the truth is rarely straightforward. Working alongside his partner, Lilly Michaels, and Gracie, a sentient holographic AI, Jack must navigate a society where the boundaries between humanity, technology, and reality are increasingly difficult to define.
But in a world this broken, the most dangerous secrets may be the ones people have spent centuries trying to bury.
The Darkness Between Days blends noir crime fiction with dystopian science fiction, combining an investigation-driven narrative with questions about humanity's future, the consequences of technological progress, and what remains of us when the world we built begins to fall apart.
I'm currently preparing the novel for publication, working through the final stages of editing to ensure the story is ready for readers.
If you enjoy dark, atmospheric science fiction, futuristic detective stories, and dystopian worlds where nothing is quite what it seems, I hope you'll join me on this journey.
Some mysteries are buried in the past. Others are waiting in the darkness between days.
